A firearms class is the best way to start. It speeds up the learning process and gives you the knowledge and skills to stay safe.
I have been shooting for over 30 years and instructing for 5 years. I mostly shoot action handgun but will take opportunities to shoot sporting clays, black powder, and long distance rifle. I have certifications with the Liberal Gun Club, National Rifle Association, and the National Range Officers Institution.

I teach at USI in Concord and at LARGC near Los Gatos.

Shooting is a skill that takes time. Often it takes over 500 rounds to become proficient with your first handgun. Specializing in self defense, hunting, or competition can take thousands of rounds in some cases. Instruction helps speed up your progress and ensure safe and sane practices.
Firearms are a responsibility. Taking a lesson helps you to better understand the risks and benefits of ownership. It will save you time and frustration as you figure out how to shoot and will keep you safe while learning.
